Unique Architectural Design and Structure: Kandovan, Iranian Village Carved in Volcanic Rocks
This a unique residential in architectural design and structure, it’s homes of the residents in the small village of Kandovan, Iran. They lived in caves made from naturally formed, compressed volcanic ash formation. The houses are here only has a living areas and storage rooms, which are all made through a difficult and complicated process. Porches, doors, windows, stairwells, and even shelves are carved into the rocks to create a natural, this is intricate and unique design. This is homes is very energy efficient, by making use of isolation from the rocks that remain warm in winter and cool during the summer.
