Mykonos is one of the most popular Greek Islands with a population of 10,000 people, which rises in summer to 50000 people. Mykonos has always been a unique natural environment filled with beautiful beaches, rocky hills and treeless desert landscape, as in relation to the sea. Popular architecture is also unique in Mykonos. Organic white cube with rounded corners, curved walls that divide the landscape, the cobbled streets are some of the features endless Mykonos architecture, developed through the centuries in hostile climatic conditions as very strong winds, drought, to withstand moisture and intense sunlight.
The renovation of the Hotel Mykonos town, which was built in 1990 has been used a modern interpretation of the traditional cycladic architecture. Through a total renovation and gradually developed, 13 rooms have been redesigned by KLab architecture 57 and renewed in accordance with the principles of purity, simplicity, and surprise. Rooms, designed as a modern lounge Mykonos used forms and essence of Mykonos.
The Interior is a compact mass of irregular walls with a non-aligned, 3-dimensional as they are biased to hear their built and built diagonally inward. The furniture is designed with the same idea where they seem to also be affixed to the walls to the user the impression that the building of the rocky land Island erupts. Each element plays from each other. Everything was conceived the design as design low tech, which local manufacturers with their previously know something would create their practice would be higher. But the budget had remained low and sentiment was due to the feeling of the room was otherwise. Our effort was to create a pure, sexy but a lively but calm, a modern and classic rooms, providing all these comparisons and paradoxes would make terrible user experience.
Plaster from bamboo tubes, plaster, glass, pebbles, cement floors and mirrors were used in combinations and in unconventional ways. Light in the room was a game of light and shadows reveal the power space sculpture. Lighting is hidden most of the time and different lighting scenarios help depending on how your environment to create time. Light creates a sense of calm and intimacy came through bamboo, under the furniture by polygonal mirror reflections.
