Interesting Boathouse Style Home: Bavarian Lakeside Residence

This a boathouse style home that was designed by German architect Susanne Nobis which also became the owner of this live work house. Located by Lake Starnberg, a popular southern Bavarian recreation area near Munich, this house boasts an interior that resembles the interior of a rustic row boat, inverted to form the gabled ceiling and enclosed in glass.

Minimalist interior is flooded with sunlight, and the walls lined with bookshelves reaching up to the wooden ceiling is a two-story living room overlooked by a modern loft. The volume features a living room, cooking and eating on the ground floor, and “galleries” of overhead, while the second volume houses two offices, living room and bedroom upstairs. This house sits on 60cm stilts, illuminated from underneath, It’s a very charming house design and too cool.
