Altamira is the manifestation of dreams and visions for generations of a family in California Ranch. Occupying 20 hectares along the rugged coast of Palos Verdes Peninsula instead of undeveloped side of memories from childhood camping trips, family picnics and romantic sunsets between men and women. Due to this feeling of familiarity, customers continue to feel “intact” of the country as far as possible in the design of his family wanted to 15,500 square metres complex and combine with the surrounding countryside, both physically and visually.
I wanted the country not more than necessary to disrupt, four separate buildings-main house, Guest House, studio and garage were cut in the area reduce the need to map the Web site. The underground car park and partly buried by land main building as the slopes of the country arise towards the sea. Not only has an immersion of buildings reduce the amount of work required, the site housed the ocean view to the surrounding neighborhood.
With site functions and lines of convergence, a reference line, was established the position of site architecture and walls. Establishment situated closely after these Massings lines frame the views of inspiration and Catalina and departure for Iceland destinations within the landscape to create. This witness line as the starting point, applied curved granite gravel paths split the House connect with olive vegetable garden, Orchard, camping, beach volleyball and various notes. Prior to joining the construction client and designer, landscape road adjustments along the way, to help ensure that all had beautiful views and easily across the land.
Links to the site beyond physical locations of facilities and outdoor areas, the selection of buildings and landscape materials, colors and textures, to repeat that in the area. Local slate was used to clad concrete walls, collecting rocks from a nearby landscape were hollow and more than 30,000 plants were grown from native seeds contract in California.
Planting design combines the built environment, not only natural, but also into the ocean. The masses of native shrubs comes evoke the waves below; Create a Visual rhythm similar parallel their direction and similar colors of green and reflect shades of blue. Then, as the waves are flat and Sandy, bars are as they are in the country, the plants will be interrupted and extensive areas of sand, while approaching the House. At the guest house are most inland structures, succulents, sea urchins, star fish and corals resemble used evoke the sensation of entering a Priel or mouth.
The result of the strong cooperative relationship between client, architect and designer, landscape architect is an extraordinary design and unique features of the environment pays tribute to direction.
